Submit your first chapter — $20Your opening chapter is the first 5,000 words of your manuscript, or a natural chapter break — whichever comes first. If your chapters run long, submit up to the 5,000-word mark. If your first chapter is shorter, submit it as written.
You choose. When you submit, you'll select from Hartley, Oliver, Vera, or Marcus. Each editor has a distinct focus — craft and voice, structure and pacing, market positioning, or reader experience. Not sure which to pick? We'll suggest one based on your genre.
A beta reader gives you their personal reaction as a reader. A Quick Read is craft-focused and systematic — it assesses what's happening technically in your prose, structure, and opening hook against the conventions of your genre. No personal opinions, no "I didn't like the main character" — just specific, actionable craft feedback.
